Overview

Darwaza Pass is a high-altitude mountain pass located near the Broghil Valley in the Chitral District of northern Pakistan. Situated close to the Afghan border, it offers breathtaking views of the Wakhan Corridor, the Hindu Kush, and Karakoram mountain ranges. At an altitude of around 4,572 meters (15,000 feet), the pass is known for its rugged terrain, high-altitude meadows, and panoramic landscapes. It also provides trekkers with access to Karambar Lake, one of the highest alpine lakes in Pakistan. This remote and culturally rich area is home to Wakhi-speaking communities, making the trek an unforgettable blend of adventure and cultural exploration.

Itinerary

Day 1. Islamabad

Upon arrival at the Islamabad International Airport, transfer to hotel. Half day city tour

Day 2. Islamabad–Chitral

Flight to Chitral. Hotel 

Day 3. Chitral–Booni/Mastuj  

Drive to Garhil by jeeps. 3200m, Tents 

Day 4. Grahil–Sheorsher via Darwaza Pass

Begin trek to Sheorsheer via Darwaza Pass (optional, dependent on authority permission). The pass offers views of the Afghanistan border and the Wakhan Corridor. 4000m, Tents

Day 5. Sheorsher–Karambar Lake

Head towards Karambar Lake (6-8 hours of trekking). 4300m, Tents

Day 6. Karambar Lake

Free day at Karamabr lake 4300m, Tents

Day 7. Karambar–Lashkargaz

Begin trek towards Lashkargaz (7-8 hours of trekking, with a lunch stop) 

Jeep Ride: From Lashkargaz, travel by jeep to Yarkhun Lasht  2400m, Hotel

Day 8. Yarkhun last–Chitral 

Drive to Chitral valley  Hotel

Day 9. Chitral 

Sightseeing: Visit Shahi Mosque and Chitral Fort  Hotel

Day 10. Chitral–Islamabad

Fly/Drive to Islamabad. Hotel

Day 11. Hotel–Airport

Transfer to Islamabad Airport for the departure flight.
